Spring weather is finally here (yes it’s almost the end of May!) and as my kids like to say …’The birds are chirping, the flowers are blooming and dad is sneezing! 🙂 Yes the weather has been unusually cold here and so I am finally relieved to get some warm weather. And this year spring is extra special for me since I have my dear sisters visiting us from India. You may have noticed my lethargy lately …. Well the truth is that I have been cooking up a storm but not really having the time to sit down and write a post. We have been on the road quite a bit too … so no time to pen and post!
One ingredient that I really stocked up on before my family’s arrival is cream cheese since my darling niece has an enormous liking for it. Hence I have been making all kinds of desserts using cream cheese. And I have been wanting to bake all kinds of special goodies for her and my sisters – Before they came, I had made a list of things that I wanted to bake for them. And then they arrived with a list of items that they would like me to make for them. And then there are only 24 hours in a day …and only 4 weeks that they will be here!. That’s the reason I am really trying to squeeze two recipes into one sometimes! 🙂 And that’s exactly what happened with these brownies. I wanted to bake regular walnut brownies for my sisters- nothing more American than that right? But then I also wanted to make a cheese cake too for my niece. But didn’t have the time to do both so decided to combine the two. !
I decided to follow my brownie recipe and added swirls of cream cheese filling. My niece loved it …the rest of the gang just gobbled it! 🙂
Btw I am bringing these brownies to Fiesta Friday too where I am awfully late to the party this week but I am sure all the stragglers(like me!) there would love some brownies 🙂
What a unique two in one dessert, Indu! I always look forward to reading the wonderful combinations you come up with. Missed reading your posts earlier since my parents were here so just catching up now!

I made these once and have them on my blog too! But your step by step pictures are magnificent! Aren’t these delicious? I love them, I’ll have to make them again soon. I cut them into little squares and served thme over vanilla ice cream – soooo good! 🙂
thanks Stephanie. Oh I need to check your recipe out! Served with vanilla ice cream does sound too good! 🙂 🙂
I bet your niece loved these! I agree with her cream cheese adds such a creaminess to recipes and then chocolate too! I know you are enjoying your visit with your sisters and niece – I have 2 sisters and we always treasure the times we can all get together 🙂
thanks Judi. Yes I am having a fabulous time! Nothing like hanging out with your sisters, right? So as you said I am really treasuring these moments!:)

This is the perfect combination of two classic desserts, Indu. I am so tempted to make this right now as I am craving a sweet. I hope you had/are having a beautiful time with your sisters and family. It sounds like a sweet family gathering. On the rare occasions my three sisters and I are together, we cook and eat up a storm too! 🙂
